The chances are you’ll probably recognise the Dark Hedges from the smash hit TV series Game of Thrones, where they featured back in 2012 and subsequently shot onto the travel bucket list of explorers the world over.
If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, try to imagine standing beneath a ceiling of 150 ancient beech trees, intertwining to form an almost cave-like structure, blocking out an impressive chunk of the sky above.
Found along the Bregagh Road in Ballymoney, County Antrim, the Dark Hedges are free of charge to visit and a perfect addition to a road trip to the Giants Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.
Just be sure to watch out for the Grey Lady who apparently haunts the road they enclose at night..!
Hit play above and enjoy.
